Daimlerchrysler South Africa
Breach of Warranty / service plan contract

Miscellaneous

We bought a used Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD ON 18/5 2012. The vehicle mileage was 35000km. The current mileage is approximately 55000km. Albeit the warranty and maintenance contract stated that the warranty and/or service contract expires on 26/01/2014 ("as per dealerconnect/ sales card captured"), the original purchase of the vehicle took place on 17/5/2011. We were told that the vehicle only had one previous owner. Accordingly, the warranty and maintenance plan (which is transferred from the original owner to the purchaser) should be valid from 17/5/2011 to 17/5/2014 or to 100 000km, which ever comes first. Never the less, the dealership refuses to honour what logically is a thirty six month period (i.e. from May 2011 till May 2014), effectively enriching themselves unjustly and penalizing us unfairly by substituting a thirty six month period with a 31 month period. As the warranty and maintenance booklet clearly states the date of sale as 17/5/2011, I cannot understand their stubborn refusal to honour what is clearly an error on the warranty and maintenance contract. I have attempted to resolve the issue with the dealership, but they refuse to offer any assistance.
