Toyota
Toyota, be fair to customers

Cars & Transport

In 2012 I bought a 2011 Automark approved Corolla. The offer to purchase said 2011. Usually one would expect a 3 year warranty to end in 2014 in this case (2011 3=2014). My vehicle however had the warranty activated in 2010. When I called the Toyota call center they told me that the vehicle was built in December 2010 and the warranty activated in December 2010 and that THE CAR WAS A 2010 model although registered in 2011. If I were selling my car or trading it in and a buyer or dealer called Toyota they would get the same answer. How would that affect my trade-in or resale value? If I have a claim on 1 January 2014, I would have no warranty. Halfway Toyota should have brought that to my attention. But who cares about customers, it's all about sales. Automark promises are useless and so is Halfway Toyota. It's an insult to be offered a few hundred rand as a refund because of this. My previous cars (VW and Volvo) had the warranty active on date of first registration. Not the case with Toyota though. I was waiting for the new Corolla, but not anymore. Halfway Toyota, please tell your customers what they are buying before they sign.
