I was expecting a delivery from Groupon SA, through CourierIT. The tracking number was forwarded to me by Groupon customer services, and then I checked where the parcel was. It was already with CourierIT, so I expected delivery within the next few days.

I work full time, and am not at home during the day for deliveries, and have to arrange for such meetings. I was out of town yesterday and got this sms "hi! im at ur complex gate 4 ur delivery 4rm GROUPON, can u pls come to gate." I was first of all, sceptical of how genuine the sms was, because its a professional company, or meant to be, and also because they had not contacted me.

The sms turned out to be genuine, and I had to arrange for someone to be at home to collect the package. I was not amused.

For an established company, not even calling ahead to make a delivery, and then sending a badly worded, unprofessional sms is pathetic.

Please take note of this situation and inform your drivers on how to communicate with customers, as this is YOUR responsibility. They give the company a bad name.
