STS
STS UNETHICAL IN SUBSCRIPTIONS

Miscellaneous

Yesterday afternoon (31 Oct 2013) I received a SMS call which was digitised (the same as when you receive a SMS on a Telkom landline). The only words that became audable after hearing it repeated for the umpteenth time, was "PRESS ONE". The stupid senior citizen, (thats me), like a fool, pressed one, The line went dead., but this morning it all became clear to me. On 1 Nov 2013, I receive an SMS from this company, reminding me that i have subscribed to their service at a rate of R7.98 per day. No contract, no paper work, no explanation of what services will be rendered, nothing. Just press one (remember all in a digitised voice) They do give me the option to unsubscribe by sending a Stop to a number. I send them 2 sms's but no response. At 0900 I seeked the help of the "Manager" at Cell C Brooklyn agency, .
He then checked the number and told me that he would phone this company. He phoned them and after giving him another number to phone the subscription was unsubscribed, but that would be within the next 24 hours.. I have subsequently received confirmation via SMS that the subscription was stopped. I will now hand this over to Stop Crime to tell me if this is ethical?
