Michelin
BF Goodrich tyres not so good

Miscellaneous

I bought 4 new expensive Mud Terrain KM2 BF Goodrich tyres from Tiger Wheel & Tyre in Gezina, Pretoria last year. We did a trip to Namibia that was about 7000km. in total, half of which were tar roads and the others were gravel roads. After returning and servicing my car, the workshop phoned me and informed me that my right rear tyre was split open in the middle and it was dangerous to drive like that. Only about 10cm. of rubber kept the tyre from falling apart. I went back to TWT (they were very helpful I must add) and they contacted a Michelin rep (distributor of BF Goodrich in SA) to inspect the tyre. TWT was equally shocked at the condition of the tyre and told me that they've never saw something like that. After waiting 1.5 weeks for the rep, the rep came to the conclusion that I've "spinned" my tyres. I drive an old 97 model LWB Pajero that I use for overlanding trips to Namibia etc. Why would I ever spin the tyres of such a car?? I don't think that the Pajero can spin it's tyres... Anyway, after the disgusting service I will never buy another BF Goodrich or Michelin product. I will also advise all my 4x4 and bakkie friends to rather steer clear of your products.
