Failure to take Responsibility

On Friday, 16th August 2013, at about 17:50pm, I was driving out of the Checkers Plumstead parking lot, past Spur when a plastic Checkers trolley rolled down the ramp straight into the back door, on the driver's side, of my vehicle. I then parked my car, and went into Checkers and informed the Trainee Manager who took pictures of my vehicle and assured me that he would get back to me regarding the damages. A month later I am informed that the trolley company, Horison Staffing Solutions, cannot take responsibility for the damage, as they claim it was not negligence on their part? These porters are not only paid to put the trolleys away, but also take money from you when they do, so how can it not be their responsibility? I was then told, "I am certain they were doing the best they could do at the time." Even though the porter was NOT busy at the time.
