2 TV Licence accounts for one household?

We have been married for 15 years, I wanted to settle my outstanding TV license but was informed that my husband also have a tv licence that are in arrears in his name. We have and always had only one television so why are we both charged? His was supposed to stop when I took mine out. Now I have no idea which one to settle, and apparently I must pay both, how is this possible??? How can they expect that of me? So much for trying to do the right thing. I really hope someone can get back to me with a settlement amount, cause I really want to get this done and over with.
