Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine
Mine depriving my son his father's death benefits

Miscellaneous

The father of my son was working at the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine and passed away a month ago. His name: Ofentse Ramaboea, his employee number:00009914.I had a very bad experience with the HR lady (Sarah Molotsi) on Wednesday. I went to her office to find out if my 18 month old son (Hloniphile Kopano Shai) would get something from his father's death benefits but Sarah was very rude & had a bad attitude towards me and told me that my son was not the beneficiary and she threw me back with the copy of the consent & maintenance order that I got from the maintenance court. I asked her if there was something that i could do because the deceased was paying maintenance & my son was once on his medical aid, hence it is clear that we were depending on him. Sarah told me that I should find other ways to provide for my son as they dont have the salary to deduct the maintenance money from. I think something is fishy here and the Mine is abusing and depriving my son for his basic needs like diapers, formula, clothes, etc. I am aware that most people working at the mine are illiterate and their families are getting the same treatment that i got, hence most widows and kids are suffering
