I made a booking at the Formula 1 Hotel in Parow before leaving Johannesburg for Cape Town by train. My booking at the Hotel was from the 28 March until the morning of the 1 April 2013. The Shosholoza Meyl train was running late as usual and I needed to inform the hotel I would be late otherwise the booking would be cancelled. I phoned 38 times from my cellphone before I got through. When I eventually got through the clerk could not understand what I was saying. I arrived at Bellville railway station and immediately we took a train a taxi to the hotel. When I got to the the hotel it became clear why I could not get through... The phone was off the hook - can you believe it? When i complained about the phone been of the hook, it was replaced. Someone phoned the hotel, the clerk asked them to phone back in 5 minutes. The person phones back and was told to call back later as his to busy??? I come from a customer service background - ouch, it was frustrating to hear how the clients were been handle. Also cold water at basin hardly running, light below tv fell apart when trying to switch on. It was really a waste of money. Also had drama when wanting to change rooms.
