Reservation cancelled, no refund

I made a booking for 2 rooms at protea hotels Samrand and paid for it, Due to other circumstances I had to cancel this, the booking was made for the 31st of August with reservation number 1957242.
So I cancelled it and received a cancellation voucher, I want a refund because I cancelled it with 5 months and 2 weeks before check in, I don't want a cancellation voucher! This voucher makes it seem that I pay the full amount and still not be able to stay there so actually my money is being as I am not receiving anything from Protea Hotels in exchange for my money.
I sent emails to reservations and no response, I have the read receipt that my mail was deleted without being read. Should I get professional people involved in getting my money back?
I have never had a bad experience with Protea Hotels, I can't believe this is the level of professionalism and service I received.

Please resolve this and refund my money ASAP.
