Illyria House
A pleasant experience

My Husband and I spent the evening of 9th of March at Illyria house in pretoria, and could not fault the experience. Firstly, the hotel and grounds are beautiful. Each room is filled with original works of art including Clauerhouts Ardmore ceramics, fine antique furniture and silverware. I believe the owners are doing the public a favor by sharing these beautiful pieces with their patrons. I might suggest though, that these would be better appreciated if a manager or owner were present to explain a bit of history behind the collection of these items.
The staff were friendly and unobtrusive. Our bulter, Foster, was present when needed, but not in our way. The pace was relaxed and calming.
The dinner was very tasty-my husband having a lamb shank, and I ordered the fillet. We were on a special offer, so starters and desert were not included, and I did think that they were a bit on the expensive side-but no more so than what we would pay for a fine dining experience in johannesburg.
We also made use of the spa for a massage, and the 2 therapists on duty were pleasant, professional and very strong (good for my husband especially).

Overall, a relaxing treat at a beautiful venue.
