Not allowed to have tea

Spent a full day there on 7 March for a company conference. At 13:00 I went to the lobby outside the conference rooms to get a cup of tea. One of the ladies in attendance told me curtly "wait for three o'clock". I saw no reason to wait and started helping myself anyway. She walked up and switched off the automated machine before I could take hot water. This hotel won't get my recommendation for further conferences.
