Why pay monthly if my bill wont be paid??

I am writing this letter in an attempt to get this situation sorted out because it has been going on for some time now. I am a valued client for Discovery for the past years and I have never experienced any problems until this.
I went to see the doctor, and to my surprise the doctor sent the bill to me directly not to Discovery, and I did what anyone would do. I forwarded the invoice to my medical aid which I pay on a monthly basis without fail, whether I claim or not. But I was told that the medical aid will not pay because the invoice was not submitted in time. Was I ever notified of this prior? Did the person I speak to over the phone explain that to me or even ask me if I was available at that time? If I pay my medical aid on a monthly basis, why should my claim from them not be paid? Is it my fault that the doctor sent the bill to me? Am I paying for the doctors wrongdoing? Do I even have any knowledge of what the doctor needs to do after consultation? Or was I just a sick patient at the time? You guys need to sort this thing out urgently because you are affecting my life and my credit rating as the doctor is going to take this to the lawyers. Can my medical aid do what is expected.
