ER DEPARTMENT BAD SERVICE

Health & Medicine

On 17 June 2013 I went to Mediclinic Cape Gate's ER. I have been feeling really ill for 5 days. I told the staff I felt really ill and want to be admitted at which they told me it is not their policy to admit people into hospital but to rather send them home with a big pot of soup and a prescription. At my insistence they did an Xray of my chest but since it was rotated nothing was noticed. I left the ER around 17h00 with a prescription but a couple of hours later I was in severe pain and very uncomfortable. I went to Durbanville Mediclinic the next morning (since I was already told I will not be admitted at C Gate). I ended up being admitted ad D'ville MC with bilobar pneumonia. I was in hospital for 4 days and on 3 different antibiotics. I phoned MC Cape Gate after I left D'ville and told them what had happened. I feel my requests was being ignored and not enough was done to determine my diagnosis. No blood tests was done to determine any levels of infection and the Xray that was done was at a completely wrong angle. I think the doctors should have picked that up. I now have 2 sets of bills. Cape Gate's bill should be scrapped. The doctors should take responsibility.
