My fiance, MR PD West, was booked into Garden city on Monday 16/09/2013 under the care of Dr Mirza.
He went for a scan and then was trold not to eat anything that day and the next day because they wanted to send him for a ct scan. The medical aid said they would pay for the scan once they recieved the results but the radiology department refused it and said we have to pay upfront. They gave him the iodine to drink before even telling him this only in the afternoon when we queried when he was going in then they came to tell us. The doctor then took him off all medication because we refused to pay for the scan that the medical aid would have paid for. So he asked to be discharged and the doctor said he would not discharge him until the next day when he can write a letter because he was not going to come see us. They wanted my fiance to sign a form saying he was refusing medical assistance when he was not recieving any medical assistance. This is pathetic way to treat patients. We were not only ones complaining about the doctor either. My cousin also got burned in theater when having her baby there last month so, I am really disappointed in the service this hospital is giving out.
