46 days for visa AND counting & delayed trip

As south africans we are unfortunate in that we have to apply for a shcengen visa for a trip to Italy through CAPAGO, as the consulate no longer deals with public directly. Capago website stipulates 15 working days is the maximum waiting period. i applied on 1st of July for a BUSINESS VISA along with my colleague. I am a perfectionist, so luckily went long before my travel date which is in October. Unfortunately i needed my passport for a trip to Mocambique today!!! I have phoned, emailed, driven out, begged pleaded and still no passport. I haven't had the courtesy of a single return email or call after struggling for hours at a time to get hold of them. I plead with the Italian consulate as well as french consulate to SERIOUSLY reconsider their decision as i have never dealt with a more pathetic company in my existence and have now had to postpone my trip to Mocambique, costing me an additional R7500.00 who will re-imburse this...? I have done everything short of a physical attack? What is going on with this company???
