Threatened with legal action over paid account

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed by this doctor on 22 May 2013. I first received the account via email on 29 May (due to her admin staff mis-typing the address at first). I submitted the claim to my medical aid at once, and they paid the money into her account on 5 June. I advised the Dr's practice of this in email on 7 June.

On 13 June I got this email:

"[Y]our account will be handed over to the Attorney for collection. We have no contract with your medical aid and as such do not enter into dealings with the medical aid. We have waited long enough as a courtesy but the patient's contract with us is to pay the practice directly within 7 days, regardless of what the medical aid does or doesn't do. The guarantor is responsible for the account NOT the medical aid.

As such from now on you will have to deal with the attorney's office who will level their own collection fees to the existing account as detailed in the fees policy documentation signed by the guarantor."

I confirmed with the medical aid that payment WAS made, found out how the practice could verify this, and emailed that to the practice.

I HAVE NOT HAD THE COURTESY OF A REPLY A WEEK LATER!
