SAVINGS OF - R3000 per year my emergency -R12000

My son sustained a neck injury on Saturday 25th May 2013 in Port Elizabeth. My husband and I were in East London for the day. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and rushed to St Georges Hospital for CAT SCANS etc. My son arrived at the hospital, was treated very well, went for CAT SCANS etc and was diagnosed with severe concussion and potentially severe neck injury, but was very lucky. 29th May 2013 I received an sms from the X-ray department demanding immediate payment of R5 707.00 to Visser Erasmus by no later than 31st May 2013! When i telephoned them they told me that this had to come out of savings which in my case R3000.00 was allocated for the year. I was told that had my son spent the night (admitted) they would have paid! What do i pay R1 800.00 per month for if in a case of an emergency we could be kicked out because our savings is exhausted? I am not happy with this... Medical aids are quick to take your money, but not to deliver the goods! Where are i supposed to find -R12000 from to cover, the neurologist, doctor on call, ambulance trip and use of St Georges causualty? That is what i have a medical aid for! Am i missing something???
