Bestmed Medical Scheme
SAVINGS vs DAY to DAY???

Health & Medicine

I am at a total loss as to understand how or why Best Med insists on paying my day to day claims from my savings account. I'm on pace 1 with 2 kids so i pay R3252pm (in total), only R716 of that amount is being utitlised, from my "savings" account". The rest, R2536, is dissapearing into my day to day and hospital cover for the year. At the end of the year it will fall away. That means that if I do not go to hospital and if my savings funds do not run out, i will have lost R30432 per year!

There fore, to make sure I get the most out of the way you manage my funds i, or one of my kids, must be hospitalised atleast once or even twice a year?! Where is the logic in that?

It was explained to me back in 2010 when i joined up that my savings account was there to pay things like over the counter meds and if my day to day bens should run out they would utilise the remaineder of my savings.

I was also assured that should i not utilise my entire savings that that remaining amount could be carried over to the next year... so where am i actually saving here? O wait... i'm NOT.

And DON'T tell me to up my option! That just means you will dissapear with more of my money!

EXPLAIN!
