Breach of Doctor / Patient Confidentiality

My gf and I went to Medi-Cross day before yesterday on the 28-05-2013 for an appointment with doctor "so so" (for legal purposes i wont mention who). anyway, we went for an ultrasound and discovered we are 7 weeks pregnant. excited as we are, we wanted to call a family meeting and tell everyone in our own time.

Approaching the pay point we realized the lady knew my gf and her family... long story short. she goes and tells my gf's mom and in turn her family. causing a great deal of stress for my gf and getting her mom to say how disappointed she is in us for not telling them first.

Now I'm not sure about what to do because if I'm correct its illegal to disclose such information or any information whatsoever as we are protected by the Doctor / Patient Confidentiality..

no physical harm was done but for my gf to stress so early in the pregnancy could lead to a miscarriage Forbid..

The lady who told the family is of age and knew exactly what she was doing. i have proof as she sent a text message to my gf mom that i now have a screenshot of..
