Unjustified Final notice

I received a Final Notice stating I had 14 days to pay R1641.39 an overdue account, if I did not I'd have my name put on ITC. Ordinarily you'd think this is normal if you have been avoiding paying your bills. However when you haven't received ANY - (emphasis on that "any") previous communication about an outstanding account, it''s quite simply not acceptable. When I called up the people I was told that they had left messages on both my partner's cellphone & mine. This is a blatant lie. I work from home and never miss any calls as it's my business to take calls, nor do I have voice-mail activated on my cellphone. My partners number they had on file was incorrect as well so I'm not sure who they were calling. How the did they leave a message? Interestingly enough the final notice made it's way to my postbox, go figure. I've since paid but the sheer attitude and outright lying about sending any invoice/statement is shocking and unprofessional. I'd just like their future victims to know how they operate.
