SONY
Sony Xperia Z Cell Phone - Sudden Death

Electronics and household app.

Being due for a cell phone upgrade, I did extensive research as to which handset to go for, comparing specs and writeups. I don't typically like to "follow the herd", something that I am regretting right now, so decided on the Sony Xperia Z as the phone for me.

I collected my cell phone from Claremont Vodacom (Montclare Building) on 11 April 2013. I was very happy with the features and performance. However on 14 April (I think that was the date) the phone suffered a sudden death issue whereby the screen would not react to any input, despite the battery still having plenty of charge. Luckily I had a laptop on at the time, so I "Googled" this problem and much to my surprise I saw that this problem has been quite widely reported and acknowledged by Sony in countries where the handset was released previously. I returned the handset to the Vodacom store on 17 April 2013. It is now apparently in JHB somewhere. I also logged a complaint on the Sony web site locally which indicated that someone will contact me within 48 hours. Well still waiting for that. My big gripe is how does a company expect market share by releasing onto a market a handset with a known software issue?
