Spares discontinued

We bought a Samsung WA75B9 top loader washing machine 5years ago. The top lid started cracking after the first year, and has now finally broken to the extent that we ca no longer use the machine. Mechanically the machine is still fine. Now Samsung informs me that I can not buy a replacement part, as it is discontinued. In other words, I must throw away something that is in 95% working order, and their products can not be fixed if something as simple as a piece of plastic breaks on it?! Pathetic. I will NEVER buy Samsung again.
