Quality Issue

I bought a new canon digital camera from mycamera in CT for my wife as a 30th bday gift to use on our holiday together. On charging the battery and switching it on the screen did not work. I returned it to the store who returned it to canon who has decided to repair the camera and leave me to wait while they order parts and fix the screen. i now do not have our new camera for the holiday.

Canon can see where i bought it, when i bought it - it is brand new and doesnt work... WHY DIDNT THEY REPLACE IT AND SAVE ME THE TROUBLE OF TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER CAMERA FOR MY TRIP?? - IT IS FRIGGIN BRAND NEW...
