Do we trust this call or not?

Electronics and household app.
I received a call from DSTV offering me an upgrade to my decoder. In order to finalise the information I was requested to provide my home address, ID number and bank account details, which I refused to do, as I already pay the subscription via debit order, and DSTV has all this information already. I had no less than 13 missed calls from the call centre, very persistent sales ladies with India accents, trying to push me into providing this information. The manager tried to pursue me by telling me "the call is recorded bla bla bla", however I am simply not comfortable providing this information to anyone over the phone.
How do we even know that it is in fact DSTV calling? If it is indeed a legitimate phone call, then DTSV will have to change their tactic to keep customers the option to do this online via a secure login or maybe via online banking like FNB :- ) Anything to give me peace of mind that I am not providing some stranger with all my most personal details.
