Another "5 Star Promise" let-down

I purchased a new washing machine on Dec 15th as part of the Samsung 5 Star Promise promotion, and registered on Dec 20th.
After numerous calls and e-mails, my old washing machine was collected (and gift card delivered) in the first week of April, despite assurances by Eben van Rooyen from Samsung that "This is top priority and should be resolved in the next few days, kindly expect a call with the resolution from us." (sent at the end of February).
Since then, I have made numerous calls to the Samsung SA call centre requesting activation, I was first told that I did not qualify as the promotion had ended last year (really?), then told that they couldn't activate my card due to technical difficulties, and finally assured that the issues had been forwarded to Head Office and would be attended to shortly. Several weeks on, and the balance on my gift card is still zero.
I have read a number of complaints along the same lines on this site - some have been attended to, others have not. I do not have particularly high hopes that this issue will be resolved, and even if it is, I have probably spent a significant portion of that money on calling the Samsung SA call centre.
