I recently purchased a lounge suite from Leather Gallery. I paid in full for the lounge suite on 28 July 2013 . I paid using my credit card. The cost of the lounge suite was R14 999 . When I inquired what it cost to have the lounge suite delivered, I was told that it would cost R400 . I found this to be to expensive and I asked why the cost was so high as I do not live far away from Springfield park. I was told that the suite that I had paid for was in storage at the company's warehouse which is in Pinetown. I told the salesperson that I would phone later to finalise arrangements as I would organise my own transport.
The next day I saw and liked another lounge suite at another store. I paid for this new lounge suite and took deliver thereafter. On 30 July, I informed the company (Leather Gallery) that I no longer required the suite. I reported to them of my intention to cancel the sale within my 5 days cooling off period. This is my common law right. The company refuses to give me a full refund and want to charge me 10% cancellation fee .despite the fact that I informed them within the 5 days cooling of period and no transport or storage was involved.
