Bad in-warranty HP laptop repair service

My HP DV7 laptop/notebook had a battery problem after just 6 months. I called HP SA who gave me a service ticket, said I must call HP's service company EnsureIT for a battery replacement. EnsureIT told me I had to drive to them in Randjeslaagte (2 hrs round trip), book it in (even if they had the battery in stock), and they'd call me to collect once it was done, and wouldn't give me an ETA. I told them I'm prepared to drive there, but book it in? for a battery? no ETA? I asked to speak to customer services and they just put the phone down on their desk until I hung up. Next day I couldn't even get through to them anymore. I called HP SA customer service to complain and Luki (wouldn't give me his last name) told me that's how it works, take it or leave it, no escalation possible. Dell on the other hand fixed my Dell laptops on site within 48 hrs, standard service, in warranty or not. I'm still waiting for EnsureIT to call back. I would never have bought an HP if I'd known how bad their after-sales service was, and I'll never buy HP again. Warning to anyone considering buying HP - good products are worthless if their customer service and after-sales service stinks.
