Bad advice - no proper check - over specifying

Cars & Transport

Sent vehicle for service 18 March 2013, with instructions check the brakes, replace if necessary (I pre-approved). On collection was informed that the brakes are OK, rear 2mm - good for 20 000km, easily till the next service in 10 000km.

2 000km later - seriously degraded braking. Returned vehicle 3rd April to Hatfield toyota their conclusion "brakes drums are out of round" - new required.

Checked myself - brake shoe worn away - "metal on metal" - in reality brake drums are damaged. Personally replaced brake drums & brake shoes. New noise - had my work checked by 3rd party, repositioned shoe. Without wheels on vehicle when hub is rotated grinding noise possible "wheel bearings".

Back to Hatfield toyota - check wheel bearings - leave vehicle there at - 07:00.

They phoned, -13:30, "Brake linings gone", need new drums & brake shoes. Told them they were replaced - check the wheel bearings. Went there myself.

Final diagnosis - incorrectly re-fitted "spring", paid for the "re-fit"

The problem:

1st they gave the bad/wrong advice,
2nd gave the wrong feedback on "ellipsoid", followed by
3rd visit "need to replace" the BRAND NEW PART.

Rip-off / bad service!
