Problems with X1 and Service

Cars & Transport

Hi, I purchased a new BMW X1 in Oct 2011 from Lyndhurst Auto. It is at 13, 000 km now; with first service due at 25, 000. However, it had to be taken to Lyndurst Auto's service for 3 times until now for different reasons. Initially, there was a fault on electronics which impacted the indicator not working properly. When fixed, I no longer had my service book. Few months later, I noticed that my parking distance control was not working, when checked, saw that it was melted as the exhaust pipe was pushed in upwards. When I took it in, I was told that I probably bumped the bottom of my car and that's what caused it & they wanted to charge me R11, 000 to fix it, I refused. Same thing happened once more. There is a youtube clip showing that it looks like a design fault. [URL Removed]
Finally my car went in for the 3rd time last week as it stalled (it is automatic!)&gave a automatic transmission failure signal. I was told that it was a software problem on the gearbox that they had to reset and told it may be due to my driving style!!! I am a mother of 2 who drives between Linksfield-Sandton, no highway. Too many problems in a new car and no accountability!
