Dave Alston Motors
Car sold with hidden faults

Cars & Transport

On the 26/2/2013 I purchased a 2003 VW Jetta 1.9Tdi from Jacques at TLC-Auto Services t/a Dave Alston Motors. On purchase I was informed of the following faults by 2 of the salesmen namely Jacques & Richard. 1. The front bumper had been resprayed. 2. After enquiring about the a/c not working I was told it needs to be re-gassed. 3. The airbag light on the dashboard needs to be reset. Other than that the other items needing repairs were tyres, lower front balljoints and cv joint boots. I was not to concerned with these as I considered them to be maintainance related. Upon taking the car for it's roadworthy test we discovered some other serious faults. 1. The vehicles chassis had been repaired due to accident damage. 2. The headlamps need to be replaced due to accident damage that had not been repaired. 3. The airbag light cannot be reset as the passenger side airbag was missing. 4. The a/c has a pipe that has been blanked off at the compressor. I feel that the dealer has knowingly not informed me of all the faults on this car as required by the CPA and despite emails and phone calls to them I have found them unwilling to repair the vehicle to roadworthy statee
