Tyres touching body parts

I went to the Lambton branch to purchase 5 new 235/70/16 Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA tyres. The manager said it is a odd size and he does not have but can supply with me 245/70/16. I more than once voiced my concerns about ti being too wide. He insisted that it is not and that he will make sure it does not touch.

Guess what. It does touch! I went back to him with that complaint and after banging various parts with a hammer which my common sense tell me is not the right thing to do he assured me it does not touch. And of course it still does! I cannot do a full left lock turn. Something very necessary as the Land Rover has a big turning circle! This touching will of course be worse when I deflate the tyres for off road use.

Again he wants me to bring the car is so that he can make some modification. This is totally unacceptable!
