I hired a vehicle from AVIS through my insurance (M&F), the vehicle was returned by a friend after I had to leave the country in a hurry on business. While I was out of the country, the vehicle was picked up and I had assumed that would be the last of it, however additional charges were charged to my credit card for repairs to the vehicle. I had requested the details from avis who sent me the quote for the repairs (R1150), after this I had also requested the documents that showed where my friend was informed (and signed for) of the damages to the vehicle. It was not supplied.

After speaking to the person who returned the vehicle I was informed that the guy who picked up the vehicle simply walked around, took the keys and left with the vehicle, no damages reported. This leads me to the conclusion that the car was in fact not damaged at the time of pick up and must then have been done by someone else.

I believe that some sort of pick up documentation should have been completed (including reporting of any damages), this was not done and I insist that the money that was taken be deposited back into my account, along with my deposit.
