I rented a car from Europcar via SAA's Cartrawler (otherwise I would not have as I have had issues with them over fuel charges before)
They gave e a brand new Kia - nice car - except the aircon wasnt working. I phoned them halfway to my Cape Town office in Diep River and asked if I simply could pull in to Kia and have the AC attended to. "Not possible" they replied. So I asked them to bring me another car as I was really busy (my time schedule in CT is always very tight). "not possible, you will have to bring to us" they said. So I asked the call centre for the address, which was in Cape Town city, and asked for another car to be ready and prepared, so we could do a fast exchange. I dropped my customer, now hot and sweaty at a restaurant and said I'd be brief as I had to exchange the car. Europcar knew nothing about this, no one had informed them and after treating my no AC report as though I was a, they eventually agreed to "look for another car". 40 minutes later I was still there and no one at all could tell me what the progress was. After telling me to come to them, they wanted to fill my tank and bill me the fuel. I eventually left frustrated in the same hot car.
