Drove 900kms for a bad deal

Cars & Transport

I was interested in trading my Toyota Hilux 2.7 petrol bakkie for a Hyundai Accent 1.6 GLS (2012 model) from the Hyundai dealership in George. I reside in Cape Town which is about 450km away and could not physically go around and check the condition of the vehicle. I enquired about the physical condition of the vehicle and I was assured that the vehicle is accident free and in perfect condition.

As I was trading my vehicle, I had to deliver my bakkie at the dealership. After my 5 hour journey, I arrived at the dealership only to find the vehicle (1 year old) in a worst condition than my bakkie (9 year old).

Within 10minutes of inspection, I found parts of the vehicle were re-sprayed. There were missing nuts and clips under the bumpers. There were scratches all over the body. One of the doors did not line up with the body when closed. When I got there, the vehicle was not even cleaned and there were dirty finger marks over some of the inside panels and mud on the tyres. I don't even want to go into the bad attitude I received from the branch manager after pointing out the faults on the vehicle.

I would not ever go back to this dealership even if they had the beast deal in town.
