GWM SA
Disappointment in vehicle and poor service

Cars & Transport

My GWM H5 broke down while driving on the highway. The red warning light came on (a lock) and the car just stopped. Vehicle was towed in by GWM. After 2 days at the Middelburg branch they couldn't give me any clarification on what was wrong with my vehicle. After 3 more days they confirmed that the timing belt broke, and the engine has to be overalled. I'm shocked that a vehicle with 22 000km on the clock can have a broken timing belt. I asked the branch manager what is the next step in repairing the vehicle? He said they will take photos and send it to GWM head office. They then will advise them on what to do. After a week I enquired what the situation is with my vehicle and to my dissapointment they are still waiting for an answer from head office. I would like to clarify the following: How long will it take to start repairs on my vehicle which is still under warranty? How is it possible for a vehicle with 22 000km to brake a timing belt? Aren't they suppose to provide a courtesy car? Do I get a new warranty on the overalled engine? Is GWM serious about their service when I have to wait for a week for any response?
