Kia Cerato 2.0 High Fuel Consumption

I bought a new Kia Cerato 2.0 Auto sedan on the 05/12/2012. It's a awesome car but I'm having high fuel consumption issues. They claim 7.8l/100 for the auto but I get nothing less than 13l/100. They told me the engine must still run in and that the claim depends on various conditions. My car has over 5000km now and even driving like a civilised person I might get it to 12l/100. Other 2.0 engined cars get close to 7l/100 some even less. How is this possible? I love the car but not the consumption. Kia has been fairly useless up to this point and has done nothing about it. I am disappointed in them. Besides that they also sold me a car with hail damage. When I informed the sales person about it he just tried to brush it off and change the conversation. I guess I will have to get that repaired on my own expense..
