Worst gearbox in world

I bought a secondhand 2007 Tdi 2.5 T5 Transporter and at 80000km the valve body on the gearbox packed up VW response they can't assist because the dealer had service the vehicle before delivery and not vith VW. They want - R80k to replace the gearbox. I had it fixed for R44K at a gearbox centre. Now at 160000km the valve body again packed up and VW do not even repond top my letters apart from we do not have record of your vehicle services although the questions asked was. Do you experience problems with the T5 boxes? Why was the T5 discontinued?
