On the 14th Dec 2012, I had a car accident and my car was towed to De Jonghs Panelbeaters, De Kock Str, Strand. The panelbeaters was due to close approximately a week later for Christmas so my car would be on "hold" until they returned from the holidays early January 2013. My insurance agreed that they accepted the claim and to go ahead with repairs. Last week (week of 21 January 2013) I contact them for an update but this time I get asked "do I have spare keys for the vehicle"? he says that they (I understand this would be the workshop?) have lost my keys (not single key but a full set of keys!). Due to their negligence, I would prefer not to give them my spare keys. I find this service shocking!! Besides the panelbeaters loosing my keys, my vehicle has been at the workshop for almost 2 months (14 Feb will be the 2nd month)! The extra delay due to lost keys is loosing me income! I would prefer for my original set of keys to be found as making a copied set is the "lazy way" of finding lost keys. I would expect management to insist that all workshop staff remain after hours and search for the keys. I have also found that when they say "I will call you back" they never do call back!
