Lexus gearbox problems PERSUIT OF PERFECTION

I have a 2004 Rx 300 Lexus. It has a full service history, and has been serviced by Lexus Helderberg. Had a break down in Swellendam on the 1/10/2013 ..no warning lights nothing. The vehicle was taken to Somerset West on a low bed. Today I go there to follow up on my vehicle and I get told that it is the gear box.
When I asked about warning lights I was told Lexus does not put warning lights on for everything... I would have thought a gear box is way more important than I light that your window washer container is empty!
Well my gripe is this... no support... my car is with Auto gear IN Somerset west at the moment. The owner there was way more informative than Lexus could ever be. Lexus also informed me that there is no help with a car in the meantime... I have since been on the internet and have seen numerous complaints about the same thing. The 1999 model is riddled with transmission problems. One would think that the transmission would be one of the service checks then. No help I suppose the bill is all my problem as well... no matter how good your service history is with Lexus --- what to do??? Drive a Lexus but have a bicycle handy... that's PERFECTION
