I purchased a Jonway Galactica 150 cc scooter for my son in Aug 2012. Two weeks after delivery the scooter developed a shudder on the wheel and needed to be "looked at". I told Jonway I should return it and get a new one and they promised they would resolve it. Services excluded, this scooter has been "looked at" every 6 - 8 weeks for repairs. It's been towed twice by the AA and loaded onto my bakkie and taken in for repairs countless times. In the past two months we've spent R4950 on repairs and the service provider we took it to has done a "houdini" and closed shop, so how am I, the consumer, protected in terms of a guarantee on their work? When I approached Jonway about this, they said "they would assist where possible", The scooter has again broken down, this time, the stater coil isn't working and because it's just out of warranty and does not include the work just done, Jonway gave me the thumbs down when asked for assistance. When I asked why it keeps on breaking down, I was told I probably purchased a Friday manufacture. Perhaps I need to go to the Consumer Council?
