No work done on vehicle - payment made already

I took my car in for a carburettor overhaul, tappet settings and replacement of PCV valve. Left the car with the mechanic in PMB in the morning, wanted it back by 14:00 to test drive (cos I live in Ptn but work in PMB). I ended up getting the car at 1645 when i actually knock off at 1600. I paid him and drove the vehicle home. Noticed immediately that the timing was off and the next week the car overheated in traffic. I travel in a lift club so dont use the vehicle everyday. My husband is a mechanic but does not some equipment to do all repairs, and checked the vehicle. To my surprise he noticed the carburettor hadnt even been taken out of the vehicle. They had adjusted the timing and removed stickers to prevent us from rectifying the problem. 250ml extra coolant was added to the expansion bottle so that the cooling system was vulnerable. The mechanic probably wanted my engine to conk out so we could bring it back to him and charge /- R6000 to repair. Please be aware of Carb & Auto Repairs PMB. I have demanded my money back but he says we must bring the car back in to check it, which I refuse to do.
