I'v purchased a Toyota professional, from the Durban North branch in Dec 2011. Last Friday (23/08/2013), the gears refused to select so I had to take the car in to diagnose the problem. When I purchased the vehicle I was told that I have an extended warranty as well as a service plan. No further details were provided other than that, especially not with regards to a courtesy vehicle. I use my vehicle for work purposes and have a baby. So having a vehicle is of the utmost importance. I have requested a courtesy vehicle as I am unable to work until I receive my vehicle, which I'm told will only be in a weeks time, thanks to Toyota's strike. I have been told by Bidvest that my warranty only covers a vehicle hire after 24 hours of claim approval, and I would have to lay out the cost of this hire and claim back a maximum of R1000 from them. I find this absolutely appalling, as I do not even have this car for 2 years. Now I am faced with this huge repair and cost. I'm not willing to outlay any money for the car hire, as I was never explained that this would be the procedure when I purchased. I am trying to get hold of Justin the service manager from Durban North, who doesn't return calls.
