Rattling Noise on VW cars

A month ago I started hearing a rattling sound when starting the engine. I then took the car to the dealership where the technician confirmed that the noise is coming from the gearbox. They then booked the car in for repairs. On the day of the repairs I got a call from the service technician
who then notified me that the problem is common on this cars and it is regarded as normal. I have a report from the technical Department which does state the problem, reference : 29583. I find this annoying a car with 30000km on the clock, I feel like I've put money down the drain.
