Bp Southern Africa
Limit when using my debitcredit card

Cars & Transport

I went to the above service station to fill up on petrol and buy an energy drink in the c-store at a cost of R14.50. I wanted to use my cheque card for the purchase and I was told by Goodman that I cant use the card if the goods purchased are lower than R20.00. I told him that this is the first time that I am hearing of this clause and asked him if this was a policy across all the BP garages and he said he doesnt know but at their filling station it wasn't allowed. I asked to speak to a manager and he said that he isnt available over weekends. I also asked for a point of escalation and was told that there isnt one over the weekend which I find to be quiet unbelievable. I asked for the managers cell number and once again I was told that it is useless giving them to me as he doesnt answer numbers he doesnt know.

Why is it that at this particular filling station there is a benchmark of R20.00 or more before one can use their cheque card?
