Listed and Enraged!!

I am livid!
I am trying to buy a home and no bank is giving me a loan because the credit bureau information indicates that there is a default recorded against me. The responsible person for this is Avis. I don't know how this works but I was under the impression that everything was resolved when I paid my account. And after a representative of Avis, Mr Mandla Mtshali, noted that they made a mistake on their part by not contacting me with regards to my "debt", I also assumed this would not get worse.
I cannot apply for a loan for the next two years and Avis calls this an "inconvenience". This is more than that, this is a catastrophe!
I ask, what do I do now? Sit and wait for two years before I can do anything relevant with my life??
