In February, I purchased a number of items from a supplier in the US who compiled the order and shipped it to me in SA on my behalf. After paying R1300 in shipping costs, my goods excitedly arrived in SA. As part of my shipment, I ordered some health suppliments which cost me around R500.00.

When the shipment arrived in SA, DHL told me that I needed to obtain a certificated from the Department of health. No further information or advice was given. After 3 days on the phone, I managed to find out what I needed and arranged it.

After about a week, my parcel was released only to be picked up a second time by customs. After persistently calling DHL almost daily, my parcel was finally assessed by customs after about 65 days!

Following the inspection, it was found that one of the 4 suppliments was incorrectly declared by dhl, even though I had provided a full detailed description with a print out of all the product labels to obtain the original clearance.

I was then told to pay a R1500 penalty on a R200 product. I grudgingly paid it as the parcel included a bday pres for my girlfriend. When the parcel finally arrived 10 days later, the penalized item was not there Nobody care
