'Stock take'

I replied to an advert on Gumtree via an SMS/Text. The advert asked for 'good counters' and the vacancy was for stock-takers. I received numerous texts during the day to say where we had to meet and 2 phone calls from 'Fred', to confirm. We were to meet at a local shopping centre. I arrived on time to be told 'they're full'. I could not believe what I had been told especially receiving 2 calls to confirm and after driving out R100 worth of diesel, I called 'Fred' and he said they indeed were full. No explanation. What I have gathered is that they over-recruit people and when they have enough they send you away. Please do not fall for this.
