Why cant I pay for a R20 pizza with my card???

I wanted to buy a R20 pizza with my debit card and the cashier refused to accept my card and said "We cannot take cards for payements of such little value".. Excuse me, but WHAT??? Why can I not pay with a card?? I never carry cash on me and I was absolutely dumb struck when I heard this - I literally thought she was joking!

I was absolutely shocked by this service and immeadiatly walked across the road to the Empire Pizza shop where they gladly took my card. You are going to loose customers with such poor service!
