Father Coffee
Rude hipster owner at Father Coffee

Cafes, Bars, Restaurants

On Saturday 20 July, my friend and I went to Father Coffee in Braamfontein. We both ordered a cafe mocha. We were told that it was not on the menu, but they would make a plan. I asked for soya milk in my coffee instead of normal milk. The bill came to a total of R70 (R35 each) - for what I later found out were the tiniest take-away cups I have ever seen. I queried the bill with the owner who served us (Nicholas Christowitz). With a great deal of attitude, he reluctantly replied that they had to make 2 coffees per cup as they did not have some kind of mixture for the mocha's. Without informing us of this upfront, they continued to make the coffees, charging us double per cup. He also said that he charged extra for the soya milk. When the coffees arrived at our table, I asked him to please explain why both coffees were the same price if the soya coffee had the extra charge. With even more attitude and a condescending tone, he said "must I explain it to you again?? ". I was shocked at this rudeness. His patronising answer didn't even shed light on being charged double, why he didn't inform us upfront or why the normal coffee was the same price as the soya milk coffee.
